Course Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:
-Define the terms "togetherness" and "intimacy" as they could be explained in a couples therapy session.
-List three examples of how entanglement results when togetherness is selected over intimacy.
-Discuss four influencing factors in couples therapy, to optimize the therapeutic alliance.
-Describe four examples of couples communication that can result in marital conflict.
-Identify five filters that affect perceptions in couples communication.
